Veg Momos

This is the first time I am making momo's. I have tasted it once and I was not happy. It was just cabbage stuffing and very bland. Maybe I had it at a wrong place. Nonetheless I wanted to try myself. I was a little worried about how it will be but pleasantly surprised and happy with the outcome. So here I am sharing the recipe, tested and tried.

Ingredients:

All purpose flour/Maida - 100 gms
Salt - as required
Oil - 2 tbsp
Water as required

For Stuffing:

Cabbage - 1 cup (finely chopped)
Carrot - 1/2 cup (finely chopped)
Spring onion - 4-5 sprigs
Garlic - 6-7 pods (finely chopped)
Chilli Sauce - 2 tbsp
Soya Sauce - 2 tbsp
Tomato ketchup - 1 tbsp
Oil - 2 tbsp
Salt as required

Method:

Mix flour, salt and oil  in a bowl and add
water to make a smooth pliable dough.
Keep aside covered.

Heat a pan with oil, add garlic, and finely chopped white part
of the spring onion.
Add Veggies and give it a good stir

Add soy sauce, chilli sauce and ketchup and mix well.
Lastly add finely chopped green part of the spring onion and mix for a minute in medium flame. Adjust seasoning.

Roll the dough into a big disc and with a lid cut into
small round wrappers

Keep some stuffing we prepared in the middle of the wrapper.
Fold it in the shape of momos.

Keep it in a steamer spaced properly and steam for 5-8 minutes.
Serve it hot with Chilly Garlic sauce
Mix flour, salt and oil  in a bowl and add water to make a smooth pliable dough. Just like normal dough. Keep aside covered.
Heat a pan with oil, add garlic, and finely chopped white part of the spring onion. Give a stir in high flame. Add the chopped veggies and fry in high flame for a minute.
Add soy sauce, chilli sauce and ketchup and mix well. Lastly add finely chopped green part of the spring onion and mix for a minute in medium flame. Add salt as per requirement.Since we have added sauces which has salt in them, adjust seasoning accordingly. Hence I added salt once the sauces are added. Switch off and keep aside. Let it cool down.
I rolled the dough into a big disc and used a big lid to cut into smaller discs. After that I again roll to make it more thin. Keep some stuffing we prepared in the middle of the wrapper.
Fold it to make momo shapes. This is the first time I am making them, but not a bad job done I must say :-).
Keep it in a steamer spaced properly and steam for 5-8 minutes.
Serve hot with Chilly Garlic Sauce.
