Jeera Rice

This is the most versatile rice. I mean when you are bored of eating plain rice, just put little jeere ka tadka and this amazing and flavoursome rice is ready. Since I did not have curry leaves with me I did not add it however if you add curry leaves it makes the dish divine. So try it out and happy cooking.

Ingredients:

Basmati Rice – 1 Cup (soaked)
Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp. (heaped)
Water – 2 cups
Oil – 3 tbsp
Salt to taste

Method:

In a pan add oil and cumin seeds for tempering
Add the tempering to the cooked rice and
garnish with coriander leaves.

Rinse and soak rice in water. For 1 cup of rice, I usually add 2 – 2 ½ cups of water.
Add salt and 1 tbsp oil to the soaked rice and cook until done.
In a pan add the remaining oil on a medium flame. Once it is hot, add cumin seeds and let it splutter.

Let it cool and then add it to the rice with coriander leaves. Serve hot.
