I started eating Tofu few years back and though many not like it, I love it. Tofu is also called as bean curd and is made from soy milk. It is an excellent substitue for paneer and for vegans its a boon. It has a subtle or should I say no flavor at all and should be seasoned and marinated properly. Tofu has a very low calorie count and high protein content, hence makes it ideal for weight watchers. I have used fresh tofu for this recipe. This is a very quick, simple and easy recipe... so happy cooking...
Ingredients:
Fresh tofu - 200 gms
Tomato - 2
Onion - 1
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Chilli powder - 1 tbsp
Garam masala - 1 tsp
Oil - 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves for garnish
Method:
Cut tofu into small cubes or triangles(as I did). Heat a kadhai/pan and add 1 tbsp of oil. Add tofu cubes. Sprinkle little salt and chilli powder and saute for a couple of minutes. Tofu should turn to light brown color.
In another kadhai/pan add the remaining oil, cumin seeds and once they splutter add tomato and onion paste.
Then add all the dry spices - tumeric, chilli powder, salt and garam masala. Cook till the gravy thickens.
Now add the sauted tofu and cook for 2 minutes covered.

Grind tomato and onion to a smooth paste.
